Shannon Airport is the third busiest airport in the Republic of Ireland.
The airport is one of the Southern Ireland's three major airports along with Dublin and Cork.
Approximately two and a half million passengers passed through the airport back in 2009. The airport is situated in Shannon, and mainly serves Limerick and the mid-west of Ireland.
Shannon Airport is located on the N19 national route, which leads to the N18/M18 Limerick to Galway route via Ennis.
A dual carriageway section of the N19 was completed back in two thousand and four. This was a bypass route for Shannon town.
A new dual carriageway and interchange (North to Ennis) were completed back in two thousand and seven on the N18 road.

Information Desks: The airport information desk is situated in the arrials hall, and the friendly staff are well qualified to answer any queries or requests from passengers or airport visitors.
Money: There is a bank of Ireland branch situated in the arrivals concourse.They also handle the bureau de change facility together with First rate, who are located in the check in area. There are ATM machines at the airport, and are located in the check in area, departure lounge and the arrivals concourse.
Food and Drink: The Sheridan Bar is located in the departure lounge, and is well known for it's irish coffee. The Estuary cafe is a self service restaurant, and is situated on the first floor of the terminal building. There is also a public bar which overlooks the check in area.
Shops: There are several duty free shops located at the airport and sell a wide variety of goods, including essential travel items. There is also an Irish food shop and a confectionery store at the airport.
Tourist Information: There is a tourist information centre at Shannon airport. It is situated at the arrivals hall. The friendly staff are there to provide answers to queries regarding vacations and visits to Ireland. Guide books and maps of Ireland are for sale there.
Disabled Facilities: The airport uses a policy of disability awareness. There are disabled toilets, lifts (with wheelchair access) and wheelchair ramps at the airport. For disabled drivers, there are designated parking spaces.
Business: There are a couple of executive lounges available for business and conference, they are the Rineanna Suite and the Golen Circle Lounge. These lounges can be booked for corporate or group events.
